According to overseas media reports, Audi Sport’s product marketing director recently stated that the Audi R series models will be fully electric in the future, and the successor of the Audi R8 will be born as a pure electric model.
In an interview, Audi executives said that they will change the Audi R series products, but do not expect a new model next year, which is the goal for the next ten years. However, the possibility of adding a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the current range cannot be ruled out. Previously, Audi also released the Audi R8 e-tron model in 2015.
For reference, the current Audi R8 performance quattro model is equipped with a V10 engine with a maximum power of 456 kilowatts and an acceleration time of 0 to 100 kilometers in 3.1 seconds. For successor models, it is obvious that comprehensive factors such as environmental protection are more meaningful than performance improvements. Audi's previous plan was to launch 20 pure electric models in its global product line by 2025.
