Bitauto’s original Dongfeng Fengshen Haoji may be unfamiliar to everyone. As the first SUV built with Dongfeng Group’s DSMA architecture, the new car uses Dongfeng’s Mach power and provides two types of power: 1.5T pure fuel version and 1.5T dual-engine version. Assembly. The new car will compete with Changan CS75PLUS, Haval H6 and other models.
The Dongfeng Fengshen Haoji has a pre-sale price range of 126,900 yuan to 139,900 yuan. A total of 6 configuration versions are launched, including 5 1.5T pure fuel versions, and the dual-engine 1.5T version only provides one model choice.
We have previously conducted a test drive experience on the Haoji Dual Engine Edition. Interested friends can click on the link below to view it.
Test drive the Dongfeng Fengshen Haoji dual-engine version
In this article, I will focus on the driving experience of the Haoji 1.5T pure fuel version. In fact, it is not difficult to see from the selection of as many as 5 configuration models of the Haoji 1.5T pure fuel version that the 1.5T pure fuel version is still the flagship model and is responsible for the main sales volume.
It should be mentioned that the test drive location is in Lhasa, which is over 3,600m above sea level. The oxygen content in the air is less than 70% of that in plain areas, which will undoubtedly have a certain impact on the vehicle's dynamic performance. In fact, I flew directly from Guangzhou to Lhasa and suffered from high altitude sickness in the first two days after landing. It was only on the third day that I slowly adapted.
Two kinds of power, outstanding data
Haoji offers two power options: 1.5T pure fuel version and 1.5T hybrid version. Among them, the pure fuel version of the 1.5T turbocharged engine has a maximum power of 150kW/5500rpm and a peak torque of 305N·m/2000-4000rpm. The transmission system is matched with a Getrag seven-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox.
The power system of the 1.5T dual-engine version is composed of Dongfeng Mach dual-engine 1.5T (four-cylinder) + Mach Power HD120 hybrid electric drive system and a high-performance multi-mode gearbox. The system has a combined maximum power of 180kW and a peak torque of 540N· m.
Sufficient power and quick speed
Judging from the peak data, Haoji's 1.5T engine has a performance of 150kW and 305N·m, which has certain advantages among models of the same level.
Haoji offers three driving modes: economical/automatic/sport. In the economic/automatic mode, Haoji's power output style is mainly smooth and comfortable. The overall power response can keep up with the rhythm. There is no obvious sense of intrusion at the start, and the driving is relatively smooth.
When driving on the plateau, I would prefer to use the sports mode. At this time, the engine speed will be maintained above 2000rpm. The gearbox is more active in upshifting and downshifting, which can increase the power.Always maintain momentum.
At the same time, Haoji's 1.5T engine will usher in a burst of power at around 2300rpm. When overtaking on a plateau highway, it is relatively easy to accelerate from 80km/h to 120km/h, and the power performance is brisk.
However, the peak torque of this 1.5T engine cannot explode until 2000rpm, and there is still some room for improvement in terms of low torque.
The chassis is solid and tough
In the sports mode, Haoji's steering setting is relatively stable, there is no obvious false position, and the vehicle's dynamic following performance is good.
Haoji adopts front MacPherson strut rear multi-link independent suspension in the chassis. Its chassis adjustment style is mainly for home comfort with a certain degree of toughness, which can effectively filter small vibrations on the road.
At the same time, when passing through speed bumps and large potholes, the suspension can handle it very simply without causing unnecessary up and down shaking, and the vehicle can maintain good comfort.
Haoji's chassis can give a heavy feeling, and the support of the suspension is also guaranteed when cornering quickly. The body will not show obvious roll. The overall performance of the chassis is commendable.
In terms of braking, the initial braking response of Haoji is relatively sensitive, and the braking force is also released relatively linearly, giving the driver enough confidence when braking.
NVH performance has advantages
The vehicle I tested used 235/50 R19 Pirelli Scorpion series tires, which took into account both grip and comfort.
Haoji's chassis sound insulation and tire noise control are quite good. Even if you drive at about 120km/h, you will not feel obvious tire noise and road noise. At the same time, there will be no obvious wind noise in the A-pillars. , the quietness in the car is relatively good when driving at high speeds.
However, a slight drawback is that Haoji's 1.5T engine is slightly rough in terms of vibration and noise, which will be transmitted to the cockpit when driving at medium and low speeds, and it does not sound so pleasant.
Fortunately, when cruising at high speed, the engine noise will be covered, and the overall quietness in the car is good at this time.
Active and passive safety in place
In terms of active safety, officials claim that Haoji is equipped with quasi-L3 driving assistance functions. In addition to common emergency braking, full-speed cruise control and other functions, it also has active lane change assist, triggered lane change assist and Emergency steering assist and other functions.
In the actual driving experience, its forward collision warning and blind spot detection system did respond quickly, and the warning sound was strong enough to serve as an obvious reminder.
In addition, Haoji has anotherA more interesting feature is that all series come standard with AR-enhanced instrument navigation, and the clarity is also very high. You can see clearly even when the sun is shining at noon. With this feature, I believe it will reduce the number of people driving in the city. A case of going the wrong way.
In terms of passive safety, Dongfeng Technology Center and Baosteel jointly independently developed and produced 2000MPa ultra-high-strength steel, which was used for the first time in Haoji body parts such as A-pillars and B-pillars and other important collision safety parts. The proportion of high-strength steel in the body 74%, ensuring the structural stability of the vehicle and the integrity of the passenger compartment space.
Written at the end: As Dongfeng Fengshen's blockbuster model, Haoji has many bright spots in terms of product strength, with abundant power, solid chassis and stable steering, which make it more enjoyable to drive.
At the same time, the more feature-rich active driving system and AR-enhanced instrument navigation have also allowed Haoji to improve driving safety.
In addition, Haoji has done a good job in controlling wind noise, road noise and tire noise, and has certain advantages among the 130,000-level competing products.
In general, Haoji is a model with relatively balanced product capabilities. Of course, it would be better if it could improve some small details such as engine sound.
